How Does Our
Animal Rescue Service Work?HOW DOES OUR ANIMAL RESCUE SERVICE WORK?
There’s been some discussion recently about how our rescue service was called out for an injured kitten in the Municipality of Capannoli. We’d like to explain clearly how our veterinary rescue service works, especially for anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation in the future.
-
What to do if you find an injured animal
Anyone who finds an injured animal, whether a pet or a wild animal, must contact the authorities to request veterinary assistance. That means calling the local municipal police (Polizia Locale) and, if they can’t be reached, the Carabinieri.
The local councils that have an agreement with our Animal Ambulance know exactly how to call us out, and the police also know how to reach us whenever we’re needed. Our rescue service runs 24/7, so we’re always ready to help injured animals, even in the middle of the night.

Care for injured animals
Every animal we rescue receives first aid at the veterinary clinic that works with our Association. When an animal needs ongoing care, for example after a head injury, fractures or internal bleeding, it’s moved to a partner veterinary hospital open 24 hours a day, so it can be monitored around the clock and get all the treatment it needs.
Once stable, the animal is brought to our shelter, where our vet keeps looking after it until it has fully recovered.
⇒ An appeal to our community ♥
We’d ask those who often criticise our work to avoid pointless, hurtful comments. Our job is to get our team and the veterinary rescue there quickly and give the best possible care. Every bit of help and support, including moral support, is vital for us to keep going and keep making a difference in these animals’ lives.
